Shop with Heart!

We have amazing donors. Our donors send us checks, donate online, order our products and attend our fundraisers. You may be one of them or you may be just learning about HHI. Either way, there’s another way to support HHI that doesn’t require giving any money. How does this work? Well, it’s called passive giving and if you search or shop online you can start to give.

There are three ways:

  1. Use GoodSearch instead of Google as your search engine and we get a donation every time you search.
  2. Use one of the 3 sites below to shop online and we get up to 26% of your total purchase price when you shop from more than 900 stores!
  3. Shop with Baby Star! Baby Star is donating 5% of all online sales to HHI through December 31st.

The big three shopping sites are GoodShop, iGive and Ebay. We’ve done the legwork and put together a quick start guide to passive giving.

GoodSearch-

GoodSearch is a search engine, powered by Yahoo!, that donates 50 percent of its sponsored search revenue to charities and schools chosen by users. You use GoodSearch exactly as you would any other search engine. The money GoodSearch donates to your cause comes from its advertisers. I installed the GoodSearch browser about a month ago and love it. It’s no different than using Google. So, search away and support HHI! Every little bit helps us to awaken love around the world.

GoodShop-

GoodShop is an online shopping mall. Each purchase made via the GoodShop mall results in a donation to your designated charity or school. The amount donated averages 3% of the sale but goes up to 20% or even more. You can also use GoodCoupons to get good deals when you shop and still give back to HHI all within the GoodShop site.

So, if you wanted to buy a new TV from Best Buy, you would go to www.goodshop.com, find the Best Buy site and shop. Check for GoodCoupons at www.goodcoupons.com before you check out and enter the code to apply it.

The most popular stores include: 1-800-flowers, Banana Republic, Best Buy, Home Depot, iTunes, JC Penney, Old Navy, Nike, Staples, Target, Travelocity and Wal-Mart.

iGive-

Of course, it’s free to join and the first time you make a purchase HHI will get $10 through the end of November 2011. iGive will donate $5 for using the site and $5 for your first purchase. iGive features more than 900 stores (see the list of major stores below). You don’t have to fill out any forms, you just shop as you normally would after installing the iGive button on your browser and you’re good to go.

For example: I want to buy jeans from Nordstrom so I go to Nordstrom’s site, find the jeans and click the flashing iGive button (since I’ve already installed this by going to www.igive.com first) on the top of the site to ensure HHI gets the donation upon checkout. Easy! To date, shopper’s favorite nonprofits have received $5.5 million!

Major online stores (just a few of the hundreds!): Amazon.com, Barnes & Noble, Carter’s, Dell, Expedia.com, FTD, Gap, Home Depot, Macy’s, Nordstrom, Overstock.com, REI, Sephora, The Children’s Place and Victoria’s Secret.

Ebay Giving Works-

There’s a few different ways to use Ebay’s Giving Works program.

As a shopper you can choose to buy items that sport a blue and yellow ribbon meaning that they support nonprofits through the program or donate directly at checkout. There aren’t currently many items that benefit HHI, but that’s why we need you to…

Sell your items on eBay and select us as your designated nonprofit to receive a portion of your sale!

Shop Baby Star-

Now through Dec. 31st, our friends at Baby Star have generously agreed to donate 5% of all online sales to HHI! Clothing, blankets and other adorable baby necessities for your favorite little one are just a click away.

You can use many of these passive giving ideas together to make the biggest impact. We appreciate every little bit!

Happy shopping!
