One Year in India
It has been just over one full year
since HHI began on the ground in India. Last week all three of
HHI's Trainers and HHI's U.S. Director had the chance to meet in Kerala to
share experiences, challenges and successes. Our most exciting development
is our work with India's
Intensive Child Development Services (ICDS) Program to train some of their
teachers in the Kottayam District - there are over 3,000 teachers in all,
who work with more than 25,000+ of the regions most vulnerable children.
The initial response from teachers who have taken HHI's training has been
very positive, all of them learning new skills to work with the children
and to help their communities most impoverished families improve the care
they give to their own children. Read more on our blog.
Foster Family
Program
HHI is supporting the creation of a
Foster Family Program which will place orphaned children with special needs
into foster homes run by single mothers. The program will provide homes to
children while they wait for their forever families, while also providing
for single mothers and supporting their own children's education. Stay
tuned for more about this exciting project.

Last year's golf outing in Pennsylvania was a
hit and we are excited that our dedicated group of PA volunteers are
working together again to put on another fun-filled outing. Save the date

Our Portland benefit was a wonderful, fun,
and delicious success— enjoyed by more than 65 friends of HHI!
Together we raised enough funds to ensure HHI Training at least 3 new
orphanages in India, educating 30+ caregivers and improving the health and
care for over 100 orphaned children.

Melissa has been an HHI volunteer from
the very beginning. She has completely designed and continually maintains
HHI's beautiful and ever expanding website. On February 16th, Melissa and
her family welcomed their newest family member, a bubbly baby boy!
