HANDS TO HEARTS

INTERNATIONAL

HHI envisions a world where all children are touched,
nurtured and loved by women empowered to actively
contribute to their families and communities

September 2005

Greetings ~

It is time to give an update on the creation of Hands to Hearts International. The last few months have been a whirlwind of activity at HHI headquarters (which just moved) and there is much to tell. I have been learning the ropes and there are more ropes than I knew!

Volunteers, Board members and our Partners have joined forces to give presentations in PA, OR and WA. We are raising community awareness and interest about what HHI does and the desperate need that disadvantaged women and orphaned children have for our services.

You are invited to our next presentation - September 27th, see http://www.handstohearts.org/events.htm for details.

Watch for the media attention we have generated this summer:

  • Getting in Touch with Neglected Infants, PA newspaper
  • Metro Parent Magazine (Portland, OR) will highlight HHI in its up-coming Baby Issue.
  • Oregonian columnist, Renee Mitchell, writing about HHI’s creation, due out soon.
  • And NW Women’s Journal is planning to include HHI in the Feature Article ~ local women acting up globally, in their November issue.

You are at the heart of our growth and success, you have already partnered with HHI and your commitment is building the foundation to deliver us to the world!  THANK YOU ~ for who you are for me, for HHI and for the women and children whose lives you touch.

Our initial goal was to bring our services to the tsuanmi-struck area of Chennai, India this fall, however it is with mixed emotions that I report that we will not begin quite so quickly. On one hand, I am disappointed, on the other, I am amazed at the support we have drawn and how the plans for our efforts have grown and solidified in the last few months. When we do launch, I am confident that we will have a powerful base under us and that we will provide a tremendous service to the women and children. With further support, we will begin in India this winter.

What will bring our services to the the orphanages will be our ability to garner a broad and varied base of donor support. Monthly contributors are at the heart of our efforts! You can join them by signing up on our website to make a difference as a monthly donor. We need to raise $50,000 to support this Pilot program to train 40 women, employing 10 full-time, and touching the lives of 160+ vulnerable babies for a full year!

Again, thank you for your support – your belief in what we are creating is making a difference in more ways than you will ever know!

Sincerely,

Laura Peterson
