India - The Power of One
Since June we have had only 1 HHI trainer in India. In the last few months she has led HHI trainings at 3 orphanages - training 47 women, reaching 265 orphaned children!

I arrived back in India on July 20th and upon meeting with the various orphanage Directors I asked what, if any changes, they'd noticed since the training.  Their answers were astounding! 

They reported that: the children were sick less often, recovered quicker (thereby needing less medicines), showed increased weight gain, and were easier to soothe.  The caregivers were seen to be more nurturing and responsive to the babies, the hygiene was improved and in general living conditions were enhanced, and the list went on!  

This is the power of 1 HHI trainer - reaching orphaned children who are healthy, or have Cerebral Palsy, a Developmental Disability, or are suffering from HIV/AIDS.  The women that have been trained have been as young as 12, as old as 56 - with education levels from 2nd grade and up.  On their graduation days, the women beam with pride as they receive their HHI Certificate of Achievement.  Neither the children, nor the women will ever be the same.

HHI's Newest Partner
In the next 3 weeks we will be tripling our capacities in India.  This month we are leading 3 trainings at our second partner site, SKB Trust, an orphanage in Kerala.  There are 64 children here and 24 care-givers.  We'll train about 40 women, hire new caregivers and certify 2 new HHI trainers.   

HHI's Little Footprint in Russia
HHI supported Dr. Vonda Jump, who designed HHI's curriculum and led our first trainings in India, to give a training at an orphanage in Russia last month.  Her initial report is overwhelmingly positive  - "It all worked out quite well, and we had a wonderful dialogue—there ended up being about 40 people at my training/presentation, representing 6 orphanages, for a total of about 300 children."
